To finish off this speedy family of boards is the 10’7” a board so nice they released it twice, once in blue and a classic edition in yellow. This go-anywhere SUP comes with a fully customizable fin configuration and enhanced construction features. Riders of all sizes can find their balance on the 10’7” with its all-around stability, streamlined shape and rugged features.

ERS: Leading by Example

Earth River SUP blossomed in 2012 when a group of paddle board enthusiasts grew tired of searching for portable high-performance gear that could take on a variety of conditions, so they decided to create their own. The company’s early days were spent manufacturing boards exclusively for paddle boarding schools. Skip to now and Earth River Sup is a paddle board company that is changing the way the watersports industry conducts business. ERS is known for their innovative boards ‘designed by a paddler’ with enhanced features made from only the best materials, manufactured in partnership with reliable companies who have high ethical standards. Earth River SUP boards are premium, reliable iSUPs that were designed to be used by any rider, anywhere. ERS doesn’t follow a hierarchical structure though, they broke the mold with their community-based business model, striving only to make a better product and constantly improve the existing ones, without compromise. The backbone of Earth River SUP has and always will be; quality, value and integrity.

The Board in General

The V3 10’7” models are each 32” wide and feature the same weight capacity of 235-pounds. Actually, the boards are identical despite their color choices. The V3 classic is a bright orange and yellow originally designed as a one-off but won the hearts of ERS riders and secured a spot in the permanent lineup, while the V3 features the same gorgeous blue palette as the V3 and Skylake Blue models. This model is the perfect middle man for the average riders, one who doesn’t fit too far left or right on any scale. With stability and rigidity from nose to tail plus a configurable fin system, this board is truly a master of disguise.

The Board: Deeper Details

At the very heart of the V3 model is the ERS drop stitch core for lightweight durability. The V3 construction is a step up from the Skylake series though, as it fuses a second layer of military grade fabric around the core. This creates yes, a heavier and pricier board, but if you thought the Skylake boards could perform just wait until you try a V3. Sure an ‘Old Fashioned’ tastes great with the house whiskey, but if you have never tried a top shelf drink, you don’t know what you’re missing, you may or may not ever turn back.  The top decks on the V3 models use an ultra-grip, deeply grooved, diamond cut EVA foam. That’s a lot of adjectives, but trust me they’re necessary. The extra deep grooves help to wick water away from your board keeping your feet and surface drier and giving you far more control. A raised kick pad aids in advanced turning techniques and more overall control. Enhanced Dynamic Rails keep the boards stiff without resorting to rails or battens, magic? Maybe. A comfortable neoprene carrying handle is in the center of the board, and the best part? Its removable! Finally, a removable handle that you can, literally, just move out of the way when you want to do some SUP yoga or lie flat on your back. A 4-point bungee storage system is at the nose of the board accompanied by a D-ring for towing, tethering or securing your leash. The tail of the board also holds a D-ring and the premium inflation valve. On the underside of the boards are three US fin boxes compatible with the included LRC fin pack and all FCS fins.

Enhanced Extras

The 10’7” V3 models come in the premium travel backpack made from heavy-duty materials with an included dual action pump. The pump is super easy to use and features a built-in pressure gauge for getting your board to the optimal PSI every time. The LRC (Lake River Coast) fin pack comes with four center fins in varying lengths and four side click fins also in two lengths, plus all of the hardware you need. Mix and match your fin setup for a custom ride across any conditions.

Board Performance

The 10’7” is a buoyant and balanced board. Not only does it look good on the water but it does just about everything you want it to. It glides forward gracefully in shallow calm waters and floats high on top in choppy conditions. You can dive in and out of the current with ease, the longer fins help on days with plenty of side winds and the short fins keep the board tracking straight in shallow waters. We love the ultra-grip deck pad; not only does it feel incredibly comfortable under bare feet, but keeps the surface of the board drier than most. If you want the option to cover long distances in short time, but also slow down and relax the 10’7” lets you go from 0-100 on your own time with ease. The overall stability of the board really allows you to try new things like headstands or paddle surfing, whatever it is that floats your board, do it with confidence on the V3.

Let’s Clarify: The Not so Negatives

The best is certainly subjective, but it’s tough to deny that the V3 models, especially the 10’7”, don’t qualify as the best. Everything about these sleek speedy boards has it walking the edge of perfection, with one exception; grab handles. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, purely for convenience, we want grab handles to pull the board in and out of the water with.

One Final Note

The 10’7” model is really the go-anywhere board, with a perfect balance between the V3 compact 9’6” and 11’0” the middle man gives you a little bit of everything. Small enough for easy travel, big enough for beginners, quick enough for racers and tough enough for the rest. The 10’7” is the perfect partner for every paddler, especially if you have no clue what you’re looking for.
