This is by far of the most balanced boards on the market. As previously mentioned, we would never expect an all-around board to be perfect in every performance category but we can really see ourselves using this as our go-to board. It’s compared to the 10’ it’s noticeably faster and tracks better as well. If we continue to compare it to the shorter version, we also see that it’s far more stable for people over 5’10” or heavier paddlers. In our opinion, 11’X32”, the dimensions of this iSUP, are the idea measurements, especially if you want to truly call yourself and all-around board.
The only real area where it falls short compared to the shorter version (and we’re talking very minor differences) is in the maneuverability category. It’s still very maneuverable for a board of its size and class, but by its very nature a shorter board is going to be more nimble.
Were glad to say that iRocker always comes through in this category and this year even more so. One area where they usually shine is with storage space and the All-around 11’ has this in spades. Both the front and back have 6-point bungee storage areas where you can put loose bags and equipment plus D-rings where you can clip on gear like dry bags or coolers. Also, you can stick your paddle in here in a pinch, though it would have been nice to have a dedicated paddle holder.
Speaking of D-rings, there’s 20 on this iSUP. Yeah — 20. While you can use these for even more equipment, they have a variety of purposes such as towing and docking or attachment points for the included ankle leash and additional equipment such as the available kayak conversion kit.
A nice improvement over the 10’ board is that you have the same amount of EVO foam pad regardless of the color you choose, since the other version gives you a choice of a bungee storage in the back or and extra long pad. Here, the pad is about the same size as in the smaller version plus you get that storage.
We’ll briefly get into the grab handles. Just about all boards have a center grab handle to help with moving around land (and this one does, too), but to have handles by both the nose and tail makes life a lot easier when moving in and out of the water. Plus, that tail handle allows you to drag the board across the beach without damaging the fins.
Finally, toward the back of the pad there are attachment points for action mounts. These can be used for cameras and a GPS or even fishing setups. iRocker saw that some other brands were including these on their boards and decided to include the same functionality for half the price.
You can tell that there is more of concentration on this model than many of the others in the iRocker line due to the amount of color options. You can choose from Aqua, Blue, Green, Grey, Orange and White color schemes. To reiterate, unlike the 10’ model, there is no difference in the features of the board regardless of the color chosen.
The nose of the board is raised up at a higher angle than most iSUPs in what is called a high rocker (we honestly don’t know if iRocker go their name from this or not) and the purpose of this is to help with choppy waters and comes in handy with surfing as well. However, if you plan of doing any surfing on a somewhat regular basis, we would recommend the 10’ model since shorter boards are better suited for waves
Speaking of the nose, the shape of it is also very all-purpose. For rougher waters, you would expect a rounded noise and for flatwater, you would expect a v-shaped nose. Keeping that in mind, take one look of the shape on this iSUP and you can see it’s perfectly in the between those shapes, giving you some of the benefits of both.
Finally, we can’t forget the fin setup. A 3-fin thruster setup with all 3 fins removeable is a rarity to be sure. Being able to remove all 3 fins makes life a lot easier, especially when it comes to setting up and packing the board away or even stacking multiple boards.
In the past, quality in iSUPs was defined in how many layers of PVC a board had, and iRocker was always on the higher end with 4 layers. The downside to this is added weight. Over the past few years, more and more companies have been manufacturing boards with a tougher inside which lets them use fewer layers PVC and theoretically a lighter iSUP. While that may be true in making a stronger board, the problem is that this doesn’t help with outside damage like punctures.
iRocker’s new construction this year combines the best of both worlds by using a stronger drop stitch core while still having 3 layers of military grade PVC on the outside to protect the board. This creates a strong board that can withstand the elements while still finding a way to keep the weight down. This isn’t the lightest 11’ iSUP on the market but probably the strongest, pound for pound.
Out of the box this iSUP comes with a super comfy backpack (with an option for adding wheels), dual chamber triple-action hand pump, carbon blend ultra-light adjustable paddle, 3 fins flip lock fins and a 11’ ankle leash with a key pocket. As always, these are some of the best quality accessories you can buy for an iSUP — and they come standard!
In addition, there is a huge number of add-ons that you can purchase to really sup up your SUP! We won’t get into too deep into this since we could be here all day, but these include anchors, fishing setups and even electric air pumps. As with the rest of the iRocker philosophy, they are all high-quality yet super affordable.
On the one hand, we love this board — like really. But on the other, we recognize that the perfect iSUP doesn’t exist and likely never will. That’s why we do have a few minor gripes such as this board not having a dedicated paddle holder. Just remember that we look for faults in every board just to be fair to all the ones that don’t need help looking for their flaws.
If you only have the budget or desire for 1 iSUP in your arsenal, the 2020 iRocker All-Around 11’ should be in your top 3. It’s a beautifully balanced board that lets you go out into nearly any body of water without fear since you know that you can probably handle anything it might throw your way.
