The Board Overall

High Society delivers with consistency you can count on, as they grow and make improvements the heart of their boards remains the same. The 10’6” Flagship is the older brother of the High Society ZG with enough upgrades to justify the higher price tag. The company’s standard 32-inch-wide base gives you all the stability you need to maintain balance in boiling waters or during your morning sun salutations. The Flagship’s all-around design and flattened rocker equip it to handle a wider variety of conditions with more control than the ZG. The 275-pound weight capacity also means that it can take on a wider variety of paddlers; big and small, short and tall.

The Board: On the Inside

Consistency is key at High Society, at the heart of each of their stout stand-up paddleboards is a drop stitch core. The core is then encased in military-grade PVC and the rails are reinforced for extra rigidity. The original artwork on the Flagship pays tribute to the artwork featured on the ZG.

Colorado artists Robert Maestas and Nathan Reese collaborated to recreate the Colorado flag graphic that represents the heart and soul of High Society. The top deck is covered in diamond grooved EVA foam for a soft and secure grip even when things start to get choppy. The carrying handle in the center of the board is great for transporting the Flagship when it’s fully inflated.

A 4-point bungee storage zone is at the nose of the board and has just enough room for a dry pack and small accessories or even a SUP cooler.  Down at the tail of the board, we see the premium inflation valve and stainless-steel leash connect, this D-ring can also be used to tether or tow your board.

On the underside of the board, we have the tri-fin setup consisting of; a removable center fin with thumbscrew and two fixed side fins. If you’re worried about the fixed side fins bending or holding shape, don’t, they are malleable enough to fold down for packing and perk right back up upon inflation.

The Whole Package

We absolutely love the accessory package from High Society, it actually has everything you need to unpack and hit the water. The travel backpack was cleverly designed with mesh sides to let your board breathe after a long day on the water, the extra airflow really helps on days when you don’t have time to fully air dry your board.

A dual-action pump, which also fits in your bag, comes in the package as well as a collapsible travel paddle, ankle leash, and repair kit.

Setup and Performance

The Flagship is a great board to have in the trunk of the car when you feel like taking a long lunch break or to take with on a hike up to your favorite secret spot. The increased thickness of the board (6-inches) keeps your feet high and dry above the water, especially on cold days. The wide base and rounded nose provide plenty of balance and smooth glide without feeling too round and wobbly. The center fin helps keep the board tracking straight, but if needed the side fins work together to maneuver the board on their own in shallow waters. The deck pad is super comfortable on long rides and even on the knees when you need a little break. The Flagship may not be coming in first place in competitions anytime soon but if you’re not looking to go anywhere fast this is an awesome, super rigid all-around board for novices, experts and even junior rippers.

The Highs and the Lows

There isn’t much about the Flagship that you can’t love, but if we were forced to choose, it would have to be the lack of grab handles at the nose or tail of the board. Grab handles make the transition in and out of the water easier for beginners and are generally a convenient feature to have for any rider.
